ScissorMix 3: Memorial Day Mix
It’s the first long weekend of the summer and that means it’s time to find a backyard with a grill, hang out with friends and listen to some tunes. So this mix is designed for those who enjoy lounging in the sun, cold beer in hand, while patiently waiting for the next round of meat treats to be pulled from the BBQ.
This mix differs from the previous installments of the ScissorMix series in the sense that it’s a bit more accessible to the casual listener. It’s designed to satisfy all crowds while not being too boring.
It works in a few distinct phases: Reggae>Soul>Hip Hop >Rock/Pop/Etc. All of these tracks are recent favorites of mine (with a few classics thrown in) and feel appropriate for outdoor relaxing. At least that was the idea when I put this together.
So grab this mix, throw it on a playlist with the latest Scissorkast and you’ve got a couple solid hours music for your holiday weekend. Well, at least that’s what I’ll be doing. Happy Memorial Day Weekend, y’all!

hey jz, can i download this?
ayo Donny,
Just right-click on the “download” link below and to the right of the flash player. Then select “save as” or “save link as”. You’ll be able to download the mp3 that way.
Good stuff. Thanks, jz.
Excellent tracks as usual, loved the Gucci Mane remix.
What software do you use to create your mixes ? I was also wondering how do you deal with intellectual property and all these copyright issues ?
Glad you enjoyed it. Grab the rest of the Gucci remixes from MAD DECENT here: http://bit.ly/cpOdhe
As far as software goes, I foolishly use Final Cut Pro. I was a video editor for a while and I’m more comfortable with that interface. I’ve been meaning to learn more suitable software for this but I haven’t found the time. So until then, all the transitions will not be as graceful as I’d like.
As far as IP concerns…I don’t believe it’s ever been an issue with mixtapes. Especially ones that are used for recreational/promotional use and don’t generate any revenue.
Thanks for listening!
