As the title implies, this is a bit of a different type of mix than previous ones. Every track is over 35 years old. Ok, 2 are relatively recent. But they lean heavily on some old samples. Despite its oldness, I think this mix fits into the same vibe as some of the other stuff that’s been put on here. They’re chock-full of big beats and deep grooves. There’s a few familiar tunes, a few that have been sampled repeatedly, and some that haven’t but should be. Every one of these tracks are supremely weird and great.

This mix starts slow and takes a bit to get moving. But I think the build works. There’s so much random shit that these tracks somehow pull off, while simultaneously remaining accessible and pop, that I couldn’t leave any of them out. From indecipherable choruses that you still try to sing along with (Velly Joonas, Minnie Riperton, Kiki Gyan, and Flying Lotus) to the huge riff at the front of the Sonny and Cher track (Sonny and Cher!) that belongs in a Turkish psych banger and not leading a 60s big band schmaltz-fest…I could write essays on why every one of these tracks are incredible.

So, please enjoy some spaced-out easy listening. Perfect for relaxing in the sun or zoning out on headphones. Rock some white socks with leather sandals and embrace the comfort of old weirdness. I dig the flow on this one and hope you do too.
