Few things are as exciting as a really top-notch, unsolicited, new-to-the-world remix. It wouldn’t be sensible of me to reveal my sources, but scissorkick has recently come across a truly stellar remix of Roots Manuva’s “Again and Again” by Arctic Monkeys’ drummer Matt Helders. Matt does a fantastic job giving this already solid track an even more robust club-ready work over, keeping the lowend heavy and warping the melody with a nice grimey filter, moving the track away from the obligatory comparisons to The Streets and closer to something Paul Epworth might churn out under his Epic Man guise. This is the first single from Manuva’s newest record Slime and Reason slated for a September ’08 release. I expect to see much more from Matt Helders all over the blogosphere before I can finish typing blogosphere, but the truth is, with this one remix, he’s already put a number of newbies out of business.
