I first posted The Changes way back on November, 17 2004 and I cannot believe that it’s creeping up on two years since I first heard “When I Wake, “ a near perfect pop song that still hasn’t lost its luster. Well, good things come to those who wait, and on September 26th, I highly recommend you rush out and get a copy of “Today is Tonight” right away. And before Pitchfork gives it their hallowed “Best New Music” tag, you remember who told you first.

Today’s post, “Sisters” is another winner with a sweet little balanced breakbeat, a rolling falsetto melody, and nice complimentary keys and guitar. The Changes again break off monster hooks so big and reel you in so quickly that trying to swim away is simply pointless. The fact that they are from Chicago makes the Sea & Cake comparison all but inevitable — and deservedly so — the smart mix of electronics and traditional songwriting is undeniably their strong suit. Simply put, one of SK’s favorite young bands. Highly recommended. Check out 3 additional tracks (including Sisters) at their MySpace page.
